About

Designed by the data science team at CC/D

The YoDaS program is an 8-week paid training program designed by the data science team at Climate Connect Digital (CC/D). It will ramp-up your python and data science skills by providing everything you need to bloom into a leading data scientist. Regular evaluations will track your progress, study materials & links will give a push when required. The program will focus on solving imperative real-world challenges, through the power of data science.

Digital is in our DNA so you will be able to participate from any part of the world whether from an office, on a beach or from the top of a mountain, basically anywhere you can get online. Come and become a part of the Climate Connect Digital family.

A boundlessly energetic sports fanatic

Akash originally joined as an Economist intern, before transforming himself, and recently ascending to Lead ML Scientist.
He had never coded before joining Climate Connect Digital (CC/D) - “Coding is definitely a learnable skill. I didn’t even know I had it in me, but the starting point was simply a knack for statistics”.
With the help and support CC/D gave him, Akash was nurtured into a data scientist, and started building live national-scale ML models from an early stage. “The training was so effective, I was able to then successfully parlay my skills to the finance sector, which is quite different in nature to energy, before returning to run the YoDaS program”.

An ever smiling crack football striker

Vivek started his career as a humble systems engineer, before joining CC/D, and becoming one of the first generation of ML specialists in the still nascent Data Science field.
After contributing to almost every piece of ML tech at CC/D, he took his newfound skills out into the world, and realised his dream of unravelling the secrets of deep data.
"I can absolutely say that what I learned on the job was pivotal to gaining entry to the Master’s program at the University of Southern California. That then blew open the doors of Silicon Valley, and the cutting-edge energy-tech startup I now work at"
Vivek is now transforming the global energy sector, and is also a guest lecturer on the YoDaS program.

Your Journey

Post preliminary screening test and interview, attend 8 weeks rigorous training program

Programming Fundamentals

Module 1 focus on basics, and Module 2 focus on layers on advanced concepts and Python best practices

What you learn

Get all material needed to progress from basic to advance level, including recursive programming, lambda functions, API and file handling, and exception handling

Progression

The module is supplemented with two practice, and a qualifying assessment at the end of the week

DS Fundamentals

In Module 3 we deep dive into the three most important libraries used in Python by data scientists - Numpy, Pandas and Sklearn

What you learn

Learn numerical Python for mathematical functions, Pandas, which is Python’s data analysis library, and SciKitLearn which is the most popular ML library for Python

Progression

The module is supplemented with two practice, and a qualifying assessment at the end of the week

Data Pre-Processing

In module 4 we cover what is needed after data has been acquired, but before it can be processed for model training.

What you learn

We teach exploratory data analysis (EDA) through visualizations, outlier detection, missing value imputation, and encoding along with handling categorical data

Assessment

The module is supplemented by one practice assessment each week, and a qualifying assessment at the end of the week

Time-Series Modeling

In module 5 we shift the focus specifically on making students aware of time-series analysis and how to handle time series data

What you learn

Most commonly used open-source ML forecasting algorithms and best practices for building models using cross-validation, and hyperparameter tuning

Assessment

The module is supplemented by one practice assessment, and one qualifying assessment at the end of the week

ML Ops and Weather

Continuing module 5 we focus on ML Ops, and the crucial role played by weather in all of our problem statements

What you learn

The best practices of building and deploying models in ML Ops, with focus on Git, Dockers, and deployment to servers. The fundamentals of meteorology taught by expert Dr. Ram

Assessment

This module is supplemented by two practice assessments, and two qualifying assessments at the end of the week, covering ML Ops and weather respectively

Final Evaluations

Students produce forecasts on live projects, and have interviews with current Data Science team members

How you’ll be assessed

All candidates will build models from scratch, using the knowledge and skills developed over the preceding weeks. If successful you’ll graduate as one of the YoDaS!

If you’re successful

You’ll have an interview with the Chief Technology Officer and Head of AI for a possible full-time role at CC/D
